Smart gates ahead as Suica integration consolidates

JR East announced plans to unify six areas. Traveling across areas will no longer require staffed gates, simply by tapping Suica to board and alight. The aim is to deploy a “gate anywhere” approach by fiscal year 2030. As deployment approaches, costs and seamlessness are expected to improve.
